Controlling LEGO WeDo robots via Scratch on an XO laptop

Sameer Verma from the OLPC San Francisco community recently posted a video of a simple LEGO WeDo robot which he programmed with Scratch running on an XO laptop. Having been excited about the combination all the way since mid-2008 when I wrote an article called "OLPC and LEGO - A Match from Heaven?" but never having managed to actually use it I was very happy to finally be able to see it in action.

Considering that Peru's Una laptop por niño project is distributing LEGO WeDo kits to 20,000 schools and Uruguay's Plan Ceibal is also moving into robotics this video is a good glimpse into the cool possibilities pupils in both countries will soon have. Plus there are few things which bring out my inner child as quickly as LEGO does.
