I know, its a bit presumptuous of me, but so far there is like <10 Canadians that I know about.  So it probably doesn't make sense for us to make a user group for specific Canadian cities!

Who else here in the frozen north purchased an XO and where are ya?

I'm here in Toronto, Ontario.

Vancouver British Columbia, I will have 1 myself and my office is getting 2 of them.  I am hoping that maybe I can have an event that will draw other people to take part in this worthwhile cause.  If we meet in a busy location in the city, people are sure to ask about them and I can pass on information so more people can get involved.

That's the plan at least.  I only know of one other person in Vancouver so far as well as a friend of mine who lives outside the city.  There is the possibility that there are more users out there who just haven't joined the forums yet.  They are after all only a couple days old.

I'll be out in Ontario over the holidays, hopefully I will have my XO for that trip!

He throw me a shout when you're in Onterrible.  I'd be happy to meet ya for a coffee, discuss and maybe check out the model you got (assuming I don't have mine by then).

Maybe we should think about setting up a Canada Jabber server for neighborhood communication?

Would love to set that up, I'll wait for my laptop to arrive and then let's connect on that.

Hows the wait for you?  I'm dying over here.

You folks get any snow on the westside?  Almost 30 cm here.

I'm dying as well, trying to be patient.  At least people in the US know they are coming, we still have no idea.  It's a beautiful sunny day here in Vancouver currently 7 degrees, no snow except in the mountains!

Add one more the list of G1G1 donators for Greater Vancouver (Pitt Meadows, if you want the details).  I have already resigned myself to no XO until the new year, given what I have read -- or rather *not* read -- about deliveries to Canada.  Sigh!

I'm from Nunavut... I think I'll be the only one in my mesh neighborhood (Nunavut is approx 1.9 million sq. km)!! (My closest southern neighbor is like 3000km away!)
I make trips to the GTA quite a few times during the course of the year, I imagine I'll "see" other XO users eventually...
At least I can run some good cold weather tests here at home!!!
(it's -46 celsius outside right now...warm and balmy -24 C coming up for Sunday though!!)

I am in Toronto (Leaside), and know of a few others in the area.  I am also interested in setting up a community server.
My main focus right now is controlling my frustration with OLPC(or the people they have contracted) re. delivery of the units.
OLPC must be losing a fair bit of goodwill with the delivery issues.  Too bad, I believe in the vision.

Hey, I got some hearsay evidence you all might be interested in!!   My co-worker that also ordered an XO said her dads friend in Windsor got his today!!!!

Wait a minute, I wonder if he just had it shipped to an American address and skipped over the border to snag it.... I better check tomorrow....

But if indeed it was sent to a Canadian address this bodes well for all of us!!!!

I am in Victoria, but I might be tempted to travel to Vancouver or Seattle for a weekend to "mesh" with other users.  I am trying to be patient, but I am having trouble, I really hope I get it it soon.   I hope it comes by Fed ex or through Canada post, as UPS is terrible here, and the last time I had to pay a brokerage fee through them it was more than the value of the item I received!  If there are any other Vancouver Island users, I would love to find them.

I'm sure we will have a meetup in Vancouver sometime soon in the new year to test out the mesh networking and such, we'd be happy to have you there Lorri
