[I second linux cafe, that place is awesome.]

I have no problem with it, as it is just around the corner from my home and it would be good to support local biz... but it is that much farther from public transit and parking. Can we arrange for some sort of poll? I'd want to make it as helpful for out-of-towners, transit users and newbies. Other issue would be size, but I'm sure for the first few meetings that would be not an issue, parking and the ability to hold workshops.

Anyone want to whiz up a date, time and location poll?

I'm game, Linux Caffe sounds very appropriate (and near my house!)

EDIT: Oh, and my XO is Green/green... You folks got other colors?   Shocked

I think they are all green, I think that post related to the colour of the xo person on the screen, the one we got to choose on first boot.

Hi All,

Got mine two days ago, and would love to participate. I'm interested in it more in terms of academic research and I'm absolutely non-linux initiated. Hope I can get help with it regardless.

Linuxcaffe and Ryerson both sound good  Smiley

I got mine yesterday.  My "X" is blue I think (on the outside.. not on the screen as someone mentioned here)... and the O is red I think.

Anyway, I have never used Linux before so meeting up to learn some tips and tricks on doing things via the command line would be great.  Also, learning tips on sugar would be good too!

Someone should throw out a date/time for the first meeting.  Even if it isn't a huge group, would be great to get the ball rolling.  I am open to either location but would prefer Ryerson.

We can add a date when we know location, and we can check with the linux cafe if/when they're free.

Looks like it will be at the Linux Cafe. I've been meeting up with some OLPC users at Ryerson but nothing formal there yet.

There's an OLPC User's map on Googlemaps:

Hi all,

I think linuxcaffe would be great (though Ryerson would be OK as well).  As a bonus, there are at least a few people I know of who come to this cafe who either now have XOs or are waiting for theirs to arrive.

Even better: one of the major Sugar developers (Mike Fletcher) is also known to frequent the cafe, and might be persuaded to come to a meeting if he has the time. (I don't know if he has a login on this board, however.)

As for myself, I practically live at the cafe; I'm the crazy tall woman with long hair who's usually wrestling with some busty old laptop or other.  And I like helping people with computer problems.

My XO's logo has a yellow-green/chartreuse body with a light blue head, though my preferred XO avatar is blue and yellow (blue outside, yellow inside).

Check the Linuxcaffe calendar... Monday the 28th and Friday Feb 1th are open. If lots of us show up they would like to know ahead. I'll try to drop in tomorrow and firm up a date.As I mentioned before, I favour Fridays, so that would be my first choice.

That would be my choice too... I've got a conference presentation on the first, taking a bit about the olpc, but whatever works for the majority.

I could probably make this Friday but not sure about future fridays...

What about time though?  I am coming in from out of town so a start time after 7pm would be best.  Traffic is always horrible heading into town on Fridays...
