I wanted to use my XO as a digital photo frame and tried to install ImageMagick, but the installation failed for asking some additional shared libraries.  After looking for other graphics programs, I installed Picasa for Linux (picasa-2.2.2820-5.i386.rpm) and it worked beautifully.  Just by running Picasa's slideshow, I did not have to write any more lines of code for my digital photo frame project!  Smiley

Awesome, It makes me wonder which other google apps will work....

Background switchers might also work well in this case, with lower resource consumption. I haven't been able to test it though Sad

Great work,

Picasa for Linux runs under WINE, which is typically pretty processor intensive.  I wasn't aware of anyone getting WINE to work on the XO.

Are you running an emulation?

rpm -ql picasa  shows lots of files under /opt/picasa/wine directory.  So it seems that the Picasa RPM contains the files of WINE in order to run Picasa.

Tami, if you use PicasaWeb you can also just browse to your photo album and run the slideshow feature in a browser set to full screen. The highest you can delay it is 20 seconds though.

I did this earlier with the default browser and it works great without having to install an extra program (though I did install Adobe flash but I don't think PicasaWeb uses it?) .

Thank you for your information.  It was my first trial to use PicasaWeb and it worked great!

I wanted to use my XO as a digital photo frame . . .

i installed feh and it does exactly what you want.

yum install feh

usage:  feh -options <dir where pics are>
ex.  feh -D 5 --scale-down /media/SD/Casio/dcim/. .   where your pics are.

feh --help | more  will display options and pause one screen at a time.  i think this will make your xo a nice little digital photo frame.

1) How did you install picasa?  I downloaded it using the default sugar browser.  The square 'open' icon appeared once it finished downloading, but when I click it, nothing happens.

2) I tried finding the downloaded file on my own using
find . -name "*picasa*"
but got an error message Filesystem loop detected; -what does that mean?

3) Am I correct in assuming that once I find the file, I can just run this line:
 # rpm -Uvh /tmp/picasa-2.2.2820-5.i386.rpm
to install it?
