I live in Northwestern, VT would prefer locally, but am not opposed to paying the postage to somewhere else as long as I can be sure it will be put to good use, preferably by a school.
Boomer-
We here in central VT just got our XO yesterday, and haven't been able to get it hooked up to our wireless system at home (for some strange reason...most likely that we are...hmmm...handicapped...and require technical assistance), but still we are game, and our nine year old has already spent the day exploring how to navigate. We were hoping to find other VT XO users. Don't give up yet!

Day one donor - XO RECEIVED 12/21

December 25, 2007, 11:04:31 PM

Boomer,

I'm curious as to the experience your 7yr old grandson had with it.  My dad gave me a TRS-80 Color Computer when I was 10.  When I heard about the G1G1 program I thought it would be great to pass on the opportunity I had to my 6yr old daughter.  She loves it!  I took a little time to show her where the power button is, how to shut it off, and how to flip the screen. She learned the navigation in about a day and took to the Paint and Write activities.

I had no problem connecting to our secured WLAN, but that was more for me than her.

JetKid,

Please note:

That would be a 7-month-old grandson; not 7-year-old.

A final thanks to those who so kindly replied with so many good ideas. I have decided to send my XO to a forum moderator who will send it on to a developer in Austria or Nepal.
I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your replies.
