Day One Donor Give 2 Get 2

December 21, 2007, 11:59:13 PM

I was out shoveling snow about 5 pm when FedEx pulled up in front of the house. I wasn't sure when they would arrive because I've never had any kind of emails of any kind. No tracking number either until I was able to get through to OLPC after 45 minutes Thursday morning. I plugged that in at FedEx all day Thursday and nothing ever showed up online. I was a little worried because I already paid my bill in full last week.
Then, surprise they came!
I know very little about Linux but have been having fun trying out all the activities I could this past month and reading up on everything. I still can't connect to my home wireless or get internet to work. I also can't figure out how it sees or accesses my sd card or usb lexar jump drive. Everything else works fine and is pretty easy to figure out.

Nine grandkids will be here next week so I hope to get them working together with the mesh network and having fun with the XO. They'll probably teach me something new the first time they use it!
It is a very fun, simple yet complex machine.

Hi sarab!  I just saw this post today.  I hope you and the grandkids had a blast with the laptops!

Did you figure out the things you mentioned here: accessing your wireless and SD card and jump drive?

I saw that a lot of people upgraded to the latest version of the software: build 653, and this fixed a lot of wireless access problems.

There seem to be so few of us donors here in Utah.  And I just about wore everyone out talking about this project too!

I have been waiting to see if any of the buyers in Alpine School District show up in the forum.

Have fun!
