Is time for another puppylinux for the XOs... Tongue

After the Luci/Ubuntu and the Racy/Saluki/T2 XO puppies, this one is based on the latest Puppy slacko-5.3.3 and has compatibility with slackware 13.37, which is still supported, so additional applications can be downloaded form the Slakware repos (activate them in the PuppyPackageManager preferences).

Slacko-5.3.3_XO was build with my XOfy tools, with some additional changes and is fairly polished (you can see the changes in the build log at /usr/local/share).
One additional change is the removal of the Seamonkey browser and the replacement by (an older) Midori that is adequate as a basic browser. For a better browser download the one of your choice with slickpet.
It also contains the latest PPM that allows searching with multiple terms and on all activated repos simultaneously.

Other than that the XO version is very close to the original Slacko-5.3.3 and with all XO functions (keyboard, touchpad, external mouse, camera, sound, power management etc) fully supported.

To give it a spin just download slacko-5.3.3_XO.tar.gz (md5sum: 85f866cadc97f6934ad0ac10d81fc96e)
Expand it at the root of any USB or SDcard with 250MB or more available space (no special formatting required, presence of other files is not a problem)
Transfer it in your security disabled XO, boot, and enjoy.

Notes 1) Slaco-XO is using the older 2.6.35 kernel, since power management with the OLPC 3.3 kernel is not working properly yet. The down-side of this is that you can not mount sfs files with xz compression (you can unsquash them though).
So if you need development tools, including kernel headers for the XO-specific kernel, get the gzip-compressed XO version of the devx_slacko_5.3.3.sfs (md5sum: be293a957d347e6f50c1e2569d94cddf)
2) For network connection use Frisbee (preferred) or Network wizard.
3) If sound recording is too low run alsawizard and accept all the defaults and then run in terminal "alsamixer -V all" and make sure that mic boost is on.
4) Sendspace (were you download the files from) does not keep the files if there is a month of inactivity. If the download links do not work just post a message here.

XO-1: Is never going to run Flash, but is certainly flashy!
(If you want Flash, get an XO-1.5 running OLPC 11.2.0 or XOpup Grin )
