Thanks, Mr. N,

All the king's horses and all the king's men can't put this idea back in the bag.

If I suggest it, I have tested it on my XO.

Dear Mr. Negroponte,

I agree whole-heartedly with your idea that developing nations need to introduce technology into their schools. I find myself fascinated by the XO's power and the possibilities it presents for education. I myself am learning new things about it (And Linux in general) everyday by use. If the children that have used the laptops in schools have had as much as a fraction of the fun as I have had using it, you'll find that you have some very happy students!

Thank you, Nicholas -

You renewed my interest in computers and learning.

You sparked my desire to try new things such as using terminal which I have never ever used and never expected to want to use.

You enabled me to help someone else while helping myself.

You got me to look at the world with a "what if" instead of "we can't" outlook.

Focus on the positive, instead of on the negative - you did a good thing and I thank you for it.

Hey, lemme give a shout out to the folks I would have never met except for the XO and Frankenserver.

Nemo
Tinker
Kevix
Glow
Sambot
Barney
Nicholas
Mike W
Cerenity

And most especially Kyra.  She's at camp in Nova Scotia and we miss her tons!

I apologize if I left anyone out.

I'm still amazed sometimes how we ended up with such a wonderful group from such diverse backgrounds.  We see each other through our ups and downs.  It's a true community.  One that wouldn't be possible except through the XO.

And thank you, legions of programmers and sysadmins who actually brought this vision to fruition.  Without y'all, there would be no XO project.  Just pie in the sky crap, which we all know managers are good at contriving.  NN might have had the vision, but you made it happen.

All those endless hours of coding and testing?  Not lost on us.  Y'all are awesome and y'all deserve accolades.

Hey I made the list! Cheesy

Well said Anna.  Truly the thing that excited me and continues to hold my interest about the OLPC project is the community of extremely smart people involved that I can actively talk to and learn from.  And that's the biggest thing, from day one I have been learning new things every time I open the thing up and play.  It's the people who forgo the complaining and innovate this scene with new ideas and hard work that make it what it is and I am TRULY grateful!  From the deployments, coding, and just helping out the G1G1 community, it's neat to see it all pull together.

So to you and those like you, Anna, THANK YOU!

I didn't, but that's okay.  And I agree -- to paraphrase NN: it's a community not a technology.
