One Laptop Per Child Australia set to launch 'One Education' program--
Organisation seeks to create educational ecosystem around Linux-based OLPC XO laptops

"The program, One Education, is due to launch on 1 May and involves two student certifications that indicate a child is either qualified to use an XO laptop and offer support to other users — XO Champion — or qualified to offer support, fault diagnosis and repair — XO Mechanic."

"We first deployed XOs in August two years ago," Barrie says. The first round of laptops was deployed in years 2, 4 and 5 — meaning the laptops were used by students completing National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests the year after obtaining an XO laptop. The school's NAPLAN results have increased significantly."
