Tried the               :wq               but I still get:
E45:  'readonly" option is set (add ! to override)
I'm still missing something here...

Yes, I am.  Apparently, I need to be root, or something.  I do:           su -
Then I                      vi /etc/wvdial.conf                  edit the file and       :wq
File edited and saved.
But when I               wvdial               I still get "Configuration does not specify a valid ph# and u-n and p-w"
Maybe I go back to the very beginning starting with the        dmsg         command?

Looks like I made wrong assumption that the My Settings was using wvdial.
Since wvdial.conf is not being change, must be another program or using another name for conf file.
Wonder if the two will conflict ?  If in doubt, uninstall wvdial ?
