pending the solution of the proper detection of external mice/keyboards by the suspend mechanism

The wait is OVER Shocked

If the "mandatory" use of the touchpad was bothering you in XOpup, you have no more excuses... Grin

Now XOpup-2.x can detect properly the external mouse/keyboard and will not "sleep" while you use them.

Just download and install the kbdshim_udev_19-1.pet from THIS POST.

The updated, faster, customizable, more user-friendly and better looking XOpup-2.2, is out.

Make sure you read the build announcement and the change log to see the numerous new features and functions.

I think that this 15th ( Shocked ) version of XOpup, since it first appeared here a year ago, is fairly complete and probably sufficient to curry the few XO-1s still used outside a deployment, to the end of their useful life.

It was fun and educating for me and hopefully useful for those of you still holding on your XOs.

XOpup-2.2 boot time is faster than before but can be improved Grin

Just download and install the init-1.pet to save another 3-6 seconds.

If you do not like XOpup-2.2  Sad ( Tongue ), you can now build your favorite flavor of puppy linux for the XO-1 and/or the XO-1.5!

It is as simple as downloading your favorite puppy flavor, the provided file and typing a single command in terminal!
See it all HERE

If you are looking for more power  Cheesy, you can even build your own kernels via an one easy script, for a unique "puppy linux on the XO" experience. Check it out Wink

Thanks for the update.
I am having trouble with Frisbee, trying to connect to my wireless router. The password input will only save a 16 digit password so I am unable to connect to the router. Did the setup a few times, edited the profile, all without success.

Hm.. I never managed to remember more than 16 characters Grin

Is it a WEP or WPA/WPA2 network.
If WEP is the password hexadecimal or normal letters?
Did/does it work with the previous XOpup network managers (network-setup.sh).

Just a guess for now, if you have WEP and a non-hexadecimal password, open /usr/local/Frisbee/func and change the end of line 160 from ....{16}$'  to ....{32}S' and see if this helps (hopefully 32 characters is enough).

Let us know.

Hi thanks for the reply.
The password is normal letters. And I had no trouble with XOPup-2.1. On 2.1 I had actually set up the connection using the Sugar interface and XOPup just picked it up and used it.
Edited line 160 in /usr/local/Frisbee/func using Geany, saved it,close Geany. Opened it with NicoEdit to make sure there is no mistake. Saved it again, close NicoEdit. Run Frisbee, set up connection, sorry will only save 16 digits Huh.
 WPA/WPA2 type network.
Changed the "S" to "$" still saving only 16 letters.

Something else to try? Anyone?

Can you elaborate on this  Huh
Is this "setup" still active?
Is this issue on a fresh install of XOpup-2.2 or upgrade from XOpup-2.1?

line 160 will only affect WEP networks.
The WPA limit is 64 characters I believe.
Please try on a fresh XOpup-2.2 install (if you heven't) because I thing that the issue might be the previous setup.

Lets start from the beginning. I had firmware q2e45 installed with release 10.1.3 of the OLPC Sugar OS installed. Played around with it a bit, set up the wireless connection. I then installed XOPup-2.1 on a 16gb sd card and booted from the sd card. There was no need to set up the wireless connection again, connected outomatically to the internet.

Now upgraded to firmware q2e46 and release 11.2.0 of the OLPC Sugar OS.
This issue is with a fresh install of XOPup-2.2 on a new 16gb sd card (the old one is fine, exept for the fact that the XO1 just skip over it at boot time).

Shocked Shocked Shocked
That is impossible.
XOpup does not even mount the internal NAND, let along finding the sugar settings and using them!
The only time that XOpup can auto connect is if you have a wired connection but never on wireless.
Someone must have done something with it at some point, to connect to a WPA network.

Did you try to see if network setup works with your wifi? Is the same as the one in XOpup-2.1.
If it does you can set this as a default, but change to the "original" boot so will autoconnect at startup.

Are you saying that the card that worked with q2e45 does not work with q2e46? If this is the case, it is clearly a bug and should be reported at the OLPC bug tracker.
q2e46 is fine at my end.

Do not know about 'impossible' Smiley. Same happened when I had Teapots Ubunty installed on a different XO1 Undecided, thats why I set it up like that Huh.
Mmmm,  tried the network setup, traditional way. No joy.  Am really out of ideas. Maybe order "the zowii" and forget about wireless for now.

Had no end of trouble getting XOPup-2.1 installed and working from sd card. Bought a 16gb sd card - nothing I did enabled booting- reformat, vfat, ext3, nothing. Bought another one, worked first time. Removed XOPup-2.1 and put XOPup-2.2 on, same problem, had to go buy a new one, work first time. A bug or a sd card problem Tongue?

Anyway when I got this XO1 it had the http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Fix_clock problem. Took a long time for me to get what I needed to get that fixed Cry.
