Which is the best Debian based distribution for the XO-1?

Hi All,

I would like to replace my Ubuntu 8.10 (Teapot) system on my XO-1 with something lighter and faster.

I am a fan of Ubuntu/Debian so I consider only Debian based distros.

Is there a distro which handles the XO hardware at least as well as Teapot's Ubuntu?
My wishlist:
- Ultra-light desktop (faster than XFCE)
- Autologin into the desktop, no questions for wifi/keyring password, auto-connect to wifi network
- Installed Chrome/Chromium is a plus (or anything lighter, but compatible for web browsing)
- Suspend/resume with auto network reconnect
- Working screen rotation with hw keys
- "Game" hw keys mapped correctly
- Switch between bw and colour mode (I prefer the bw mode for reading) with the dedicated hw button
- Working LCD brightness control and volume control with the dedicated keyboard buttons
- Working audio with microphone and speakers (for Skype installation/use)
- Autosuspend would be nice (but optional)
- Some overclocking installed is a plus (but optional, I will probably be able to do it myself)

I read about Xtra Ordinary 2010 but it seems that it has issues with rotation and resume (wifi reconnect).

Does Deborah fulfill those above? With some doable customizations?

Is there any other distro for the XO-1?

If you want to get your hands dirty, you can create your own Debian distro.  It's really nice to have only what you want and nothing else.

On top of the base Squeeze build, I installed icewm, which is a really light and fast window manager.  Sometimes I like working with just a console, so I didn't install a login manager like xdm or gdm.  Instead, I log in at the console and then do the old school "startx" if I want a GUI.  I installed Google Chromium for web browsing, Pidgin for chat, XChat for IRC, pianobar for Pandora radio, and the mplayer CLI for other media.

For networking, I put my info in /etc/network/interfaces and it connects automagically to my home AP with a static IP at boot.  I'm running ssh and the lighttpd webserver with some fun CGI stuff, so it's kinda neato to just hit the power button, walk away, and then use a terminal or a web browser on another computer to interact with the XO.

As far as the key mapping, I haven't bothered to set that up, but it should be simple enough to do.

Anyway, that's an example of how I got pretty much what I wanted.  If you have a specific wishlist, you might have to go the DIY route.

Thanks Anna, but I would like to get a distro already customized for the XO.
I don't mind setting/configuring smaller things but I don't want to start from scratch.
