Hi everyone

I just got back my OLPC after it was with my daugther for a few months. She dont know  what thappens but it does not want to both anymore. It does charge, the orange light turned green after a few hours. Pushing the power button only turn on the power light. No noise, no activity on the screen, it stays black.

any idea anyone?

Try a clean install of software via a USB flash drive :

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/No-fail_update

Since the green power light does come on, it suggests a software corruption, especially if it has been shipped.

Before doing this, try a simple reset of the XO by removing the battery for 30 seconds (power module unplugged).  Some things remain powered even though the XO has been powered down.

The images you need for a clean install are really simple to obtain if you have a PC or Mac on the internet.

See this thread for more details on toubleshooting.

Looks like a real-time-clock (RTC) problem, common when the XO is left unused for a long time.
See if this page will help http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Fix_Clock
there is also a very long thread in the official OLPC forum. This is a link to a success story from this tread http://en.forum.laptop.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=430&start=45#p533274 but you probably need to go through most of it. There are additional pictures and instructions in this thread.
The first thing however is to update the firmware (Dinky's suggestion above will do the trick)

XO-1: Is never going to run Flash, but is certainly flashy!
(If you want Flash, get an XO-1.5 running OLPC 11.2.0 or XOpup Grin )

The above troubleshooting references explain how the battery and power LED's can give some helpful clues.

With the battery removed, plug in the power module.  If the Electronic Controller (EC) starts, the battery LED (yellow) will briefly flash.   If the EC enables the CPU, then the power LED (green) will come on.  Then, the firmware tries to start.

As I understand it, no green power LED implies the EC does not run correctly to start the CPU and failure modes include the infamous RTC battery problem.  If there is a green power LED, then failure modes include the firmware being run by the CPU.

Thus, if no green LED, then consider the RTC problem.   If there is a green LED, then consider the firmware and think about reloading the firmware (via USB clean install).

Please correct me if my understanding is incorrect.  Note that the failure of other hardware components may complicate these simple tests --- don't exclude a stuck power button.
