booting from android liveUSB

I have an android 1.5 liveUSB ready to boot on my XO (G1G1 1.0) but I am having difficulty figuring out how to boot from it - any tips?

First, you need a developer's key or you need to disable firmware security

Then you need to have a properly written /boot/olpc.fth file:
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Custom_bootloader

These steps are necessary, though probably not sufficient.

had the develepor's key - having a bit of trouble writing the custom bootloader... can anyone help?
