using the xo on a bicycle: charging batteries and navigation usb gps mouse ...

well folks, to start this topic

if someone had more input to put our 2-pence together i would be glad to read!!

ok first i built a charger for my hub dynamo ( Shimano DH-3N20 ) (presently with standard diodes, but better use schottky-rectifiers instead -they have less voltage drop- in series with a capacity (around 470 yF) to compensate the induction of the hub dynamo - thus optimize the output-voltage even at lower speed:
the hub dynamo delivers around or more than 6 watts what should be enough for the xo to run permanently (shut-down the led-backlight !!) and running a navigation-software with a ( bluetooth ?)- gps - mouse: which software to use: ( eg: garmin mobile pc ?)? and where to get maps for it... (europe suitable for bicycle-tours...!!)

if there is surplus power let the hub dynamo charge 3 x 3 x 18650 - liion-batteries
that  is around 12volts: can be used to enlarge the time to use the xo when the bicycle wheels stand still: eg when i got an open wifi / open wlan to use - be it an open one or just another member of http://www.fon.com (maybe found or directed to ideally by the navigation-software-addable poi-data-file (see at the left side of http://maps.fon.com/# -choose download .kml , . csv , .gpx , .ov2 ...)
