Let's install INX on an OLPC XO. INX is a command-line OS designed, among other things, to help people learn about linux and the command line. Its a stripped down version of Ubuntu hardy with some helpful and informative scripts.

I've installed Ubuntu on the XO using Teapots tutorial and custom scripts and have really enjoyed it. I'd like to learn more about the command line and could use a more lightweight system. ditching X windows has got to be the right way to go. I'm not sure how to go about this myself as I don't know enough about the XO and what adaptations would need to be made for it to work, but I'm sure that together we can figure it out. Any hints? ideas?

If it is a stripped down Ubuntu then the method that Teapot used to get Hardy to run should pretty much work for INX. I'll give it a try when I have to time to play around. In the mean time if you want a command line Linux distro to play with on your XO you can try the "DebXO Base" image available @ http://lunge.mit.edu/~dilinger/debxo-latest/images/ext3/debxo-base.ext3.img.gz The install instructions are @ http://wiki.laptop.org/go/DebXO

Yeah that's pretty much the approach I'm taking, using teapot's hardy install instructions and then installing the inx scripts. INX is designed to run as a liveCD which makes it difficult to install and run from a drive. I'll post back here with my results.
