We learn from Ars Technica that HP is considering Android for Netbooks

Quote

HP, the dominant PC manufacturer, could potentially be preparing to develop a netbook product with Google's Linux-based Android software platform. According to multiple reports, HP has confirmed that it is studying Google's operating system, but has not disclosed specific plans for adoption yet.

I'm wondering what the impact of HP choosing Android would be, regardless if its on ARM or x86.  In general I think there would be two impacts:

1. reduce the dominance of Windows, by conferring validity of Android as a competing OS, and along with Linux, strong show for FOSS, and projects like OLPC
2. increase the validity of Sugar as an educational OS by showing you can have platform/activity centric OS, not XP for everything

What do you think?
