Hola!

While visiting Cali, Colombia this week, I came across the local Carrfour selling the Intel Classmate with Windows XP for 809,000 Colombian Peso's. That converts to $323 new and with a warranty!

I took a picture of the youth that was playing with it at the store. I am not sure of all its spec's, but it was using the Intel Atom processor. I just had to stop and take the photo!

What about a Guest Post on this experience and how OLPC might learn from this to have a larger OLPC Colombia implementation?

I think I am just on the outside of the implementation, so I am just putting the pieces together like a puzzle. A better person might be a member of the Colombian OLPC XO group. The Classmate is being built by SmartPC in Colombia with Microsoft's blessing and it is available at Carrefour as well as Exito within Colombia.

I met a guy from Peru on my flight back to DC last week and he would like to implement a small scale laptop implementation there. He lives in the DC area and I suggested he visit this forum as well as show up at the DC users group meeting.

No Greg, not OLPC Colombia, but Classmate 3 - how do you think that retails sales of Classmates show what OLPC should be doing with the XO?
