YAY ~ my xo is online !!

thanks sooooo much dinky, eden and greg I have learnt heaps through this process and it turns out to be the dumbest thing that was wrong.

I had called out my xo MAC address across the room to my friend who typed it in on saturday into the DLINK setup page and he had typed in a 40 instead of 4C

but in order to check and change it I had to update the dlink firmware and I got my new xo software etc anyway, I'm now happily online.

Y'all totally rock. thankyou!

Now that your XO is on the World Wide Web, you might want to try to "mesh" with other XO's via a Jabber server:

http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Community_Jabber_Servers

Just set the mesh server in Control Panel / Network.

There is now a Jabber in Australia:  xochat.lympago.com
Or try one in Romania, Quebec, Germany, North America, or South America.

Want to play Memorize Game over the World Wide Web ?

Also look at the work of David Leeming of Australia:

Also is it possible to purge the journal history in any way other than erasing items one by one?

Help would be much appreciated Smiley

Found this on another thread.  Have not used it yet, but anything has got to be easier than Journal.  I can understand not wanting to make it easy to delete files, but clean-up is tedious.

Midnight Commander is a file management Activity available from the Terminal by first typing su root and pressing enter. Then, typing yum install MC. It helps to see the files and then you can move them around and delete others.
