Add a digital clock with month/day and hour/minute to upper-right corner of the frame with the instructions below.  Requires build 767 (current stable and G1G1 2008 build).

Screenshot here: http://www.xades.com/proj/clock_frame_767_screenshot.png

Instructions:

1) Launch Terminal and type "su -" (without the quotes)

2) Type EXACTLY, ALL ON ONE LINE (mind your spaces and minuses and capitals!)

wget -O - http://www.xades.com/proj/clock_device_767.tar.gz | tar xvzf - -C /usr/share/sugar/shell

...and it may be useful to recall that "copy" in Browse is Ctrl-C, and "paste" in Terminal is Shift-Ctrl-V.

3) Restart Sugar by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace (you will lose all your open programs and data, so be sure to save anything you want first)

I did the copy/paste and got this
Quote

[olpc@xo-0D-28-D2 ~]$ wget -O - http://www.xades.com/proj/clock_device_767.tar.gz | sudo tar xvzf - -C /usr/share/sugar/shell

[olpc@xo-0D-28-D2 ~]$

So what went wrong?

the instructions were
Quote
1) Launch Terminal

2) Type EXACTLY, ALL ON ONE LINE (mind your spaces and minuses and capitals!)

It should have said:
Quote
1) Launch Terminal

1.5) su -l

2) Type EXACTLY, ALL ON ONE LINE (mind your spaces and minuses and capitals!)

Doing su -l or su - was what it needed. now it works.

Screenshots or even description?
Should this http://olpcnews.com/forum/index.php?topic=2428.msg26460#msg26460 frameclock be removed first (if installed) to check the new one?

Nice clock, thank you!
It's even the 'large print' edition  -  great for some of us!

Thank you.  I like how this even takes on the colors of my XO icon.

Very Cool.......
Now I have a clock that is just the ticket.
Just one problem.....I can no longer turn off the frame.
I have tried resetting the frame in the control panel,
but that isn't working. Any Ideas?

After resetting the frame to "never" for the 7th time,
it seems to be working the way it should now.
Let's hope it "sticks"Smiley
And do tell, what are those other cool icons on your frame?

ok so i got it to work, and got the format changed but was wondering how to move it to the bottom left. its unused space on the frame anyways.

edit: I changed the font size to 24 which looks better and changed the y value of its location to 10 to center it in the frame but cant figure out how to move it to a different area of the frame. Are each side of the frame a different object?

Bananascanner, I've also been experiencing the frame pop-up since installing this.  Glad I am not the only one.

I will experiment further.  By the way, if needed, how would one un-install this?

Thanks,

Glow, so.....I'm not the only one?
I have found that if I use the control panel to reset the frame back to "never", then restart, the frame will behave until I touch the frame key. Then the frame is jumping all over the place when I get near the edge.
I would also like to un-install, if it would fix this.
Thanks to anyone with ideas.

Actually once I changed the font size the hot corners problem went away. You have to edit the texticon.py file in /usr/share/sugar/shell/view/devices.

Changing the font size fixed my hot corners too Smiley
