I've installed 8.2.0 and did an All Activities update. There is no ? icon in Activities which is supposed to bring up a User's Manual. There also is no battery status indicator.

What next?

Hi bjprice,
You should be able to correct both issues by looking at the pop-up screen edge.  Drag your arrow to a corner of the screen and the pop-up screen edge should appear.  Battery status will be in the lower right edge.  I think your other issue has to do with which icons are showing.  If you go to the screen edge again and look in the upper-right-hand corner there should be a circle and an icon with several lines.  If you click on the lines it should pull up a list of all programs loaded on your XO.  The highlighted stars next to each icon dictate which ones will show on your home page.  The "help" icon should be listed.  Highlight the star and return to your home-page view by clicking on the original circle icon in the upper-right-hand corner.

In my case, I upgraded from 711 to 767 and DID NOT get a help activity installed.  It was suggested in another forum to add
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activities/G1G1
as a new group to the control panel's software update feature.  I have not tried this yet, but it sounds logical since the help activity is in the G1G1 group.

hey...this is probably the wrong place for this (sorry if it really is) but how do you check to see if the update software really did update your activities?

Thanks to all who've replied.  I've found out where the battery status icon was hiding and installed http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Activities/G1G1.   Still disappointed that the help file leaves out so much - like how most of the activities are supposed to work.  I guess if you''re 10 years old you can figure it out.

Its true that the Help activity is just covering the basics of Sugar and the hardware of the XO. But you can download manuals for some of the activities from http://en.flossmanuals.net/ (Write, Terminal, Chat, Browse, Record and Turtle Art). And you can always start a manual for one of the other activities at FLOSS Manuals, too!  Wink

Also, if you follow the documentation link from the Activities page for a specific activity, the developer has often created a manual for his activity there.
