subject says all.  What am I doing wrong?  Steps for a beginner?  I would like to save a playlist to my SD card or flash drive, but totem crashes and terminal appears with a long error message.  I can post that if needed. Tx.

XO Build:  767;  Sugar:  0.82.1;  Firmware:  Q2E18
Totem MP 2.23.4;  using GStreamer 0.10.12

I start Totem from Terminal (is there another way?) by typing:
totem &
Totem opens, but I look at Terminal and see:

(totem 1743): WARNING : Failed to create dbus proxy for org.gnome.SettingsDaemon:  Could not get owner of name 'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon':  no such name

Back to Totem.
I go "Movie>Open".  I see the 3 playlists I tried to create in the OLPC directory (the last 3 times it crashed).  (How do I delete them?)  If I drag them to the sidebar, or if I use the +Add button,  they don't appear there (in the sidebar).
I plug in a flash drive, navigate to it (Movie>Open>media>my flash drive), then I drag 3 songs to the sidebar, and I can play them.  Then I pause playback, I click the "Save Playlist" button, bottom of sidebar, Save Playlist dialogue pops up, I give name "3songs.pls", I browse for other folders and select my flash drive in media, I create a new folder called "3songs", then I click save, then totem crashes.  I see Terminal, I get:

OIL:  ERROR liboiltest.c 361:  oil_test_check_impl(): illegal instruction in mmxCombineAddU

This seems to be an old Fedora7/Fedora9 bug with liboiltest.
Try the latest 10.1.3 Fedora 11 OLPC build or SugarLabs Dextrose

2 questions:
Can I update to 10.1.3 from 767?
Does this update have video/mp3 playback capabilities?

os802 is known to work in updates provided you have enough space left in your NAND. So os767 is likely but not guaranteed.
10.1.3 does have audio video capabilities but only free codecs eg theora/ogg. Dextrose includes also non-free codecs

So I'm a little confused.  Do I update to 802 first then to 10.1.3?
provided you have enough space left in your NAND...
How do I find out how much free space I have?
Does Dextrose work with my current build?

I found how to determine disk space (df -h), don't know if that's what NAND is all about.  1GB total, 880 MB used, 145 MB free, 86%.  I assume this is all journal entries?  can't think what else it might be.  Now I'll search about how to delete more than 1 journal entry at a time.  Quick question:  I'm guessing I have an XO-1, right?  (different install directions for XO-1 and XO-1.5...)  Do I install or update?  Oh, that's two questions!  And three, do I install new OS then Dextrose?  I'm sorta lost here.  I'd like my six-year-old to be able to hear his mp3's and watch vid on his little green box without having to be a Terminal genious.  Advice?

If you have updated your OS you also have the full previous OS that you can boot to pressing the 'O' game key at startup

If you had an XO-1.5 you would know Wink
Clean install.
Try dextrose for less terminal work (though 10.1.3 might be more bug-free)
Explore! There are MANY new features and activities.

If you have updated your OS you also have the full previous OS...
And if I removed it?  How much of the 735MB I've used are that, would you say?

you would know...
What would I know?

So clean install 767 to 10.1.3, right, then add Dextrose later, am I following you?
Thx 4 the help so far.

Keyword: OR
From my understanding, you can have one or the other, both not both, am I right?

Anyhoo- update time.  I bought the bullet and bit it.  Both XO's in my house now run 10.1.3, no major problems (unless you consider the buggy-a** cursor all over the screen a major problem).  Currently working it, learning the curves, having some fun.  Gotta love that Gnome screen switch!  Got the playlist thing working (see original post), pushin' mp3 Fluendo style.  Now for vid, any suggestions?
