I just purchased an [ams venus] 3.5 Aluminum External Enclosure, with built in 8cm Ultra Silent fan, Supports up to 750 GB has USB2.0 and Firewire cables and connectors (DS-2316cbk).

I had two 20gb and one 40gb hard drives that I no longer used in my desktop.

I installed the 40gb and formatted it to FAT32.

Plug it into the XO and their it was.

I then did a copy of all data on a 4gb SDHC card as a backup.

It worked great. Unplugged it from XO after going to journal and unmounting it.

Plug it into my IMAC by firewire and their it was.

Then I plugged it in my desktop via USB and all is well, copied more XO stuff to external.

Now have an external that can take any of the three hard drives that I have. Takes me less then 3 minutes to swap a hard drive.

Now the XO is just like my other systems, happy.
