For some unknown reason my xo isn't finding my wifi connection anymore (I didn't make any config changes and the wifi is still working fine on my macs.

I've been troubleshooting (off and on) for a couple of weeks now, but still no internet connection Sad

I've been looking around on the internet but haven't figured out what to do to get back up and running again (I'm an linux novice).

Can anyone offer some suggestions for troubleshooting this and getting my wifi connection back up again?

Thanks.

Hello!

First, reflash your XO and start with a new OS. If this does not cure the problem, then you definitely know it is a hardware problem.

How do I do a 'reflash' and reinstall a new OS? And by doing so, will I loose all of my seamonkey data, like bookmarks? If so how do I back this stuff up first?

I apologize for my 'newbie-ness  : \

Thanks.

Here is a good link on reflashing:

See especially message # 8.  These files can go on an inexpensive 1 GB USB stick.  Hang on to this USB drive and don't use it for anything else, just for reflashing.  The process will erase everything and any additions that you made you will have to reinstall.

I have trouble with my XO and my netgear router all the time.  However, it seems to be the router's problem.  I thought for sure it must be the computer, since the wi-fi connection worked with the other computers on the network.

When we can't connect, I restart the router and then the XO.  Then we get the connection back.  My other computers don't seem to be affected.

Something easier to try before reflashing the XO!

Every once in a while, my internet connection will start moving in super-slow-mo. Sometimes, the XO and/or my WinXP laptop will stop seeing the router, too.

When either of those problems crops up (every few weeks, at most), I hit the reset button on both the router and the DSL modem. I'm never sure which of those devices is the source of the slowdown, but it only takes a moment to hit the reset button on both. Ditto for my other quick-fix solution, which is to unplug each of them briefly and plug them back in.

Once I do this, all is well. Both laptops can see the router and the connection speed goes back to normal.
