Blank Activity Screen - Update

Hi all,
I posted about a problem that I had been having.  Thought it was solved by removing Adobe Flash, but alas, the problem persists.  On certain sites (comcast webmail being just one) after some time, I will get a blank screen with a small arrow cursor.  When I go back to the Home view, there is a new activity added in addition to Journal (which is always there) and Browse.  If I click on this activity, I get the option to Restore (which  brings me back to the blank screen) or Exit.  I can close the program, but then the browser locks up.

So....I don't know what this activity is!  It could be a pop up.  Or Java or Flash.  Is there an equivilent to Task Manager or something so I can see what this activity is?  I didn't get this problem on any website until I installed Flash and downloaded (but not sure if I was able to install Opera and Firefox).  I managed to uninstall Flash via a procedure outlined in these forums.  Firefox and Opera gave me a 403(?) error when I tried to uninstall them.  My wife and kids, who are even less tech savvy than me, are about ready to go back to Windows, because at least it doesn't lock up on them.

Has anybody else run across this?
Is there any way to figure out what this activity is and kill it w/o locking up the browser?
Are there simple steps to uninstall it from the terminal (though I know next to nothing about linux)?
Would it be easier to re-install Sugar?  I have a USB drive that can be used.
Can I go into Terminal and get rid of Firefox and Opera?

sorry for such a long and rambling post!
Any thoughts/tips/ideas out there?

thanks,
drew

I've been having a similar problem. It seems that when I open a website containing some Flash content, my screen goes 100% white with the mouse cursor, and I get 1-2 additional grey circles in my home view. Clicking on one of the grey circles just takes me to one of the white screens, and quitting one of these grey circles from the home view quits all instances of the browser.

I've had no problem killing these 'ghost activities' via the home view, but I still find it very odd.

Anyone else?

Sorry Kidatari, but I'm glad it's not just me.  Whew!
Did you install flash/other activities or is your laptop vanilla, out of the box?

I've installed the older Flash build, Sim City, and used the WPA shell script. Other than that, it's box-stock.

I think it's a flash issue as well, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

I saw the same behavior kidatari described on a newspaper web site that has flash ads http://www.charlotte.com. I also have an older version of Flash installed 9.0.48 IIRC. It will be interesting to hear whether people who have out-of-the-box Gnash or a newer Flash version are immune.

When I get home, I will check my XO to see how its page compares with my PC on that site (ads displayed? popups blocked? etc.).
