For all of you out there still waiting, let me tell you a story of a little XO that wandered from China to Illinois and then got lost on its way to Kansas.  It's in Utah at the present, waiting for a ride home.

I have the same last name as a Kansas donor.  When I called to update my shipping address from the PayPal-induced PO Box snafu, someone updated the other donor's address to my address too.  I got my laptop a while back.  I didn't expect to see a second one arrive.  So I contacted OLPC and they said they will send me a shipping label to forward/return the second XO.

Just for fun, I Googled the other donor's name and got a number in Kansas.  I let her know her laptop is taking a ski trip here in the snow, but will soon be on the way back East.  She had just gotten an email notifying her that it was on the way.  The email did not mention the detour.  Good thing I prefer to be an honest person or I could've just had a second XO for free.

Moral of the story:  see if maybe OLPC/Patriot sent your laptop to another donor with the same last name.

Just a little update...I can't believe I posted the above on Feb 4.  It's now three weeks later and I have not yet received a shipping label to send back the laptop.  No surprise there, right?

But no worries, I only waited a week before I contacted the other donor in Kansas again and arranged to ship it directly there myself because I have low confidence in the customer service system that OLPC is using and because I felt sorry that she was waiting so patiently for the little laptop.

Patriot customer service told me it would be about two weeks before the label got to me, and then it sounded like it would be to ship the laptop back to Brightstar and then on to Kansas.  Forget that.  That XO is already in Kansas: there's no place like home.

Mine was ordered via a Canadian friend ... like others, she got the "It's coming by Christmas" ... "make that jan" ... "no, make it march". Finally, it's arrived. I'm in the UK, and she's coming to the UK in a fortnight (so at least that's saved us shipping it across the atlantic ... we just have luggage at Heathrow Terminal 5 to cope with...)
