Perhaps someone else would like to try posting step-by-step User Guide instructions?

I'm not sure if making it easier for people to hack the Sugar UI, without understanding what they are doing, is the best thing to do. By forcing people to edit the files themselves, at least they will be aware of what changes they are making and hopefully understand why it works. They will also then have learned how to fix problems that might come up and to apply their knowledge in other ways.

As it is, the instructions are pretty easy. Step 1: Edit the file. Step 2: That's it. When the Sugar UI next reloads, the changes will be shown.

I already posted the new code for the computer-xo.svg file. It's in my first post in this topic.

To summarize, the changes are, before:
Code:
<path ... fill="&fill_color;" stroke="&stroke_color;" .../>
<circle ... fill="&fill_color;" ... stroke="&stroke_color;" .../>
And, after:
Code:
<path ... fill="&fill_color;" stroke="&fill_color;" .../>
<circle ... fill="&stroke_color;" ... stroke="&stroke_color;" .../>

[Edit: added below]

I hope I'm not being arrogant when I say that people shouldn't be making these changes to their laptops without understanding what they are doing. I could see a differing opinion being that the laptops should be easy for anyone, even a child, to use without having to learn Linux or programming. However, to me that just seems to be giving people fish when perhaps teaching them how to fish might be better for them in the long run. Of course, they might be hungry for fish now and not be in a position where they are able to fish for themselves. And, there's no reason why everyone should have to catch their own fish.

What does everyone consider the standard for color choices?  Like is the X the fill color, and the O the stroke color, or vice versa.  Just wanted some input, and to see what everyone else thought.

If the pics that accompany this article are any indication, the color of the O on the case is the fill color, and the color of the X on the case is the stroke color.

Ben, you do sound a little arrogant, but that's probably because you *do* understand what you're doing. Wink  The rest of us are learning from you.  Thanks to your "before and after" code snippets I think I understand what I was doing wrong and will try again shortly.  Thanks!

UPDATE:  I got it done and it looks great.  Thanks!
