Hi all,

I recently received an email (see below) from the Vancouver Linux User Group chairman asking if there was any interest in an OLPC XO meeting (the presentation would probably be technical rather than just an overview of the XO). Please reply to this message if you would be interested in attending such a presentation (feel free to also indicate specific topics that you would be interested in) and I'll let him know what level of interest there is.

Hi Bill,

The timing of your post to the VanLUG announce list is good.  At our
last meeting two of our members showed up with OLPC machines and a short
discussion lead to the suggestion that we have an OLPC presentation at a
future VanLUG meeting.

Not to commit Otto (who I have CCed) to anything, but he was one of the
people toting an OLPC at our last meeting and I sent an email to him
earlier today asking about the potential of his involvement in a
presentation to VanLUG.  Whether he is able to be involved or not I
think the OLPC would make a great presentation topic.

Would you and/or some of your members be interested in being involved in
such a presentation?  Our next scheduled meeting is on March 17th and I
am in the process of trying to line up a presentation.  If we can put
together an OLPC presentation that would be fantastic, but if the
schedule is too tight we could delay it for a future meeting.

Please let me know if any of this is of interest to you.

VanLUG meetings are held on the third Monday of the month at the Telus
Theatre, building SE6 at the BCIT Burnaby campus from 7:30-9:00pm.  They
are free and open to all.

So how did this meeting go?
Did it happen? How many XO's were present?

In the interests of creating a bit of an XO community in Van I've created a Facebook group with links to this discussion board and others.

I think we need some kind of group that keeps in mind there are at least two major groups of XO owners, those with children and those who are programmers.
Obviously both groups like the charitable/educational aspect of the XO so we should try to get together to see where we can take this thing.
