Has anyone successfully installed an Apple II emulator?

I haven't run an Apple II emulator yet, but I have managed to get Mac OS 8.6 and OS 9 emulators to work with pretty good results.

Here's some interesting developments on the Linux - Apple II front that may help you out:

It might also make sense to run a DOS-based Apple II emulator in a DOS emulator on the XO...

The name of the second game is "the amazon trail". i have a copy and am willing to upload an .iso if you'd like. Just send me a PM about it

One thing that you can try tracking down is a pre-compiled version of KEGS.  KEGS is light on dependencies, so it may just work.

Or you can always PM me as a reminder in about 2 weeks, when I'll have enough time to sit down to compile the emulator on the XO myself.
