got a tracking number yesterday morning.  fedex says it may arrive on wednesday.

that would make it 4 months to the day since i ordered.

but i'm not bitter.  no, not at all.  :-)

p.s. this isn't reflected in the tracking page, which still says "in queue".  but i guess it implies that the march laptops are starting to ship.

I just checked and got a FedEx tracking statement for the 12th of March also. I ordered first day, second hour, so its been 4 months and as pgf stated, I'm not bitter,   no...,  not at all! :-)

Well this is good news.  As soon as you abandoned D1 donors are out of the way that means they may finally get on to the rest of us!

I was checking Fedex's AltRef tracking this morning (once again); to my surprise, for the first time tracking information appeared, telling me my XO will arrive tomorrow! (yay Smiley )

I'm still a bit worried, as I live in an appartment building and I heard much about delivery people leaving the box outside. I trust most of my neighbors to do the right thing, but other people do walk by during the day.

By the way, I donated on 12/14/2007, so I will assume other mid-December donors should be getting theirs too.

11/28 donor here and I just received my xo yesterday! I have spent a bit of time with mine and to some extent am happy that mine came so late. I have seen a noticeable improvement in the new line of keyboards. A co-worker got her xo in Dec and the keyboard isn't nearly as responsive. Mine also seems to run a "bit" faster than hers. They very well could have made some improvements to the OS since the first models were sent out.

Dec. 12th order, in the 70,000 - 73,000 range.  Maybe people could post their approximate order number and date when they get them?  Still waiting...

Excellent news, Paul.

I'm going to try and get that ergonomic mousepad thing working on my XO. If I can figure it out then we will have mouse capability in tablet mode.

I'll have to take some pics, but it fits perfectly over the handle. All you'd have to do is affix (with non-permanent adhesive) some small velcro strips above and below the hole that makes the handle.

I'll be sure to start a thread.

Not to sound like a helpless n00b, but what do you put for "Ref Tracking" on FedEx? your number from OLPC?, name?, address? Huh

:-)  thanks for the reminder!  i hadn't checked recently.

the tracking page says it was left at my front door 2 hours ago.

not uncrossing my fingers yet, though.  :-)

matt -- i've forgotten which ergonomic mousepad thing you're referring to...

okay.  uncrossed.  i just called my wife, and she said it's now inside!

i'm trying to decide whether to celebrate we should get a bottle of champagne, or whether it would be more appropriate to take it outside, set it on the fence, and shoot it.

This touchpad. I'm pretty sure Gabey8 has one, and I bought one. I've started a thread about trying to get it to work.

Since the GPS discussion I keep thinking about how you want to use the XO. I think the touchpad would be a perfect pointing device in tablet mode (aka on your gas tank).

oh yeah -- now i remember.  that looks like a good one.

i thought it would be perfect too -- until i remembered that touchpads don't work when you're wearing gloves.  :-/  (if that one is different, please let me know!)  it's not that i need to use the touchpad while riding, but it wouldn't be practical to need to remove my glove if i was stopped and manipulating the screen.
