Here's something from another thread:
For anyone who had delivery on their XO-1 somehow refused, sent to an undeliverable address, or otherwise ended up with it being returned (
BUT NOT RMA'd
), check this thread:
http://olpcnews.com/forum/index.php?topic=1967.0
Again, that thread is only for FedEx "returns" that apparently went out to you, then back, without you ever seeing them. It is
NOT ABOUT RMAs.
It sounds like that poster had a good result!
Next post will be some good news about my results

Hey Micro, congrats, saw on the OLPC support forum that you have gotten the one you ordered and that your daughter is delighted, nice going.
Hope I am not taking the wind out of your sails by posting this, but am excited for you after all you have gone through.
I look forward to reading how you finally wrenched it free.

No problem sir
It was quite a saga indeed - I'm setting up right now to boil it down to useful information for anyone else filing a FedEx claim. help AT laptop DOT org is also involved now and I think will make a good official channel for accessing the resources that finally fixed my problem.

Okay, I think I have it boiled down now - here we go:
---
Here is some good news for those trying to file FedEx claims - I think I have a solution that works pretty well!
Step 1:
Make sure your FedEx claim is
completely
ready to file.
That means that you've got all the information about it that you need, like the original tracking number, the claim number, and a status that indicates that replacement is required (e.g. mine was "Lost at depot" or similar - entered Chicago hub but was never seen leaving it). Note that this requires that you've initiated a package trace and got the results back! Those of you who have situations with your XO-1 being delivered at an incorrect address, or at an insecure location with no signature required, may need more documentation (e.g. a police report?)
Step 2:
Put all the information you've gathered into an email message to '
[email protected]
' requesting help with a FedEx claim.
I worked with a representative of theirs about this, and they should now have access to some resources within Brightstar that will help to get your FedEx claim filed. NOTE that you really need to email help@ about this and get a ticket opened. As far as I can tell, contacting the phone support line is NOT useful this way, since that's just Patriot. When I tried that method, I discovered at that time that the best they can do is take the info, then 'throw it over the wall' to Brightstar and hope that someone handles it eventually. It wasn't satisfactory for me, and it shouldn't be satisfactory for you either!
Step 3:
Keep an eye on your issue.
Hopefully you'll get more back from help@ beyond the standard auto-ack - you can try to contact them a few days after you've submitted your information and see what's happening. You can also do what I found most useful, which is to contact FedEx and see if there's been any claim activity on your shipment yet. (That's useful information to include when you contact help@ to see what's happening!)
---
Hopefully, using this method, all the stars will align and you'll be able to get a claim started, which should lead to your getting a replacement XO-1 ... though at this point I suspect they might have to come out of the new batch that is due some weeks off
I will drop a copy of this on the 'official' forums too. Hope this is useful to those who are in this situation. Please feel free to post replies and/or PM me about this!

I am glad to see that no one is needing to ping me on this thread so far.

Hey, true - after all, no shipments until the manufacturing is done means, no shipment problems right now, right?
