Goatview Gets One, Declines It

In the "Count Me Amazed" group it appears that even after putting in for a refund, and even after that refund comes through, a fedex truck can still drive up and an XO can come to your door, only in this case Goatview had to sign to decline it.

And, just to think, they are shipping to people who no longer want it before those of us who have been waiting, waiting, waiting.  I can only laugh at this point.

I'm guessing that the XO was probably already in the shipping chain before Goatview asked for the refund. At least, I hope so. Wink

@Directive0

She's is finished ranting, I'm not.  Although if you perceive a rant in my words, I was only trying for astonishment at the ineptitude of receiving something a week after the refunds show up in one's account.

Do you seriously believe her laptop was on a fedex truck before she called for a refund?

What does your donation is at the warehouse and your laptop is in the process of shipping mean?

Is it possible that anyone knows anything aside from when it turns up it will turn up?

Has anyone received the email with fedex shipping information prior to a laptop appearing at their door?

When does the fedex alt shipping site go live?  A day before the laptop shows up, or a day after?

Nothing in this makes any sense at all, and they've had weeks now to sort it out, it just shows how disjointed the process is, and that reflects badly on OLPC itself, and if that is a rant, so be it.

My experience is that the Fedex Alt. Tracking site is updated fairly quickly (I checked it right after mine arrived - which was about 18 hours after it shipped). I believe that if I had been following my nightly check I would have actually known it was coming prior to the arrival.

On the other hand, I still haven't gotten an official e-mail regarding the shipment (although the folks at "help at laptop.org" did update me in response to my query), and no official communication regarding T-mobile (although I was able to use the website to get my account). And the tracking site at laptopgiving.org was still saying my order was at the warehouse four or five days after I received it.

Bottomline - I agree the processes are still broken - perhaps some of the major gaps have been closed but there are still minor ones out there - I personally think my lack of e-mails is due to having two seperate orders using the same e-mail address!

I have a question, and I am seriously asking it, Its not a troll or trying to make trouble.

"Why are you still shocked and suprised that the system is scewed up?"

My XO finally arrived last Friday. I was a day 2 donor, I finally called mid January, after reading about the issues here, and sure enough I was a PayPal second address line victim. I heard the person clicking the keyboard as I gave her my information.

Jan 19th I receive an email stating an apology and that the order is being processed.

Jan. 30th I receive an email stating that the XO is on it's way with an order number and a FedEx tracking page link.

Feb. 2nd I go to work and find my XO sitting on my desk.

So for me the process went pretty smoothly once I called.

There is hope that things are getting better. In as much as I'm happy with the machine (I'm enjoying playing with it therefore I don't think my daughter will get it any time soon. Wink ) the OLPC needs to apologize for this SNAFU. I do hope that they have learned from this and that they do try another G1G1 in the future, as I'm already trying to evangelize the XO by showing it to people. I'm afraid, however, that this has damaged their reputation.

We have a new Goatview!!!

I keed. I keed.

But you're right, the system's FUBAR. Even though I keep myself planted firmly in the "I don't give-a-damn" group, I get a little sense of awe everytime I peruse the forums. "Awe" as in how can any organization continually and consistently fnck up so much?

Its really very simple. They are in Crisis management. They are scrambling to get the mistakes rectified, Only after that happens will they be able to make changes so that it does not happen again. With the number of people they had there just as not been time yet.
