So, today is the day that i am supposed to be completley finishing my iTunes transfer from my toshiba laptop, to my iMac. I was thinking of just reinstalling windows after that and giving it to my younger brother. But then I thought, hey, my bro likes my XO, so wouldn't it be cool if I installed the XO version of linux on that computer? I will get back to you all on that(once I do it), but my question in the meantime is; has anyone else done this? If so, have you had any luck?

I haven't tried this yet, but the OLPC wiki has some instructions for various Linux distros: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Sugar_with_sugar-jhbuild

If you want things under the hood to be similar to the XO, then go with Fedora since that's what's on the XO.  This would probably only be important if you plan on installing non-XO software and want to follow the instructions found on here.

I've been meaning to try this on a Gentoo or an Ubuntu computer (I have access to both), but I haven't had the time.  Looking at the instructions again, it doesn't look as easy (or as small...3 GB?!) as I thought.

There's also a pdf file with instructions, including installing it on the hard disk.

I've tried the live cd and it hangs just after the boot screen, I can run it on a desktop, but not on my laptops, 800mhz compaq armada 110 512M ram. I have also followed the install instructions and it just hangs too.
