Awww, bummer Sad

Oh well, it was worth a try! Wink

Thanks, goney3.  I'm hoping that OLPC will offer us current donors first chance at getting these cancellations.

...i called back today and rechecked.the guy said that my status in a 1 (whatever that means)...

1 = Processing
2 = Shipped
BLANK = I have no idea! OMGBBQ!  Shocked

That is great news that you're in the system... I still come up as 'blank' ... which means "Shipped, Not Shipped, No Inventory, Bad Address, All the above, etc"  I think? Smiley

There are about 24,000 of us (roughly) that are waiting till March. Welcome!  Grin

Ps. FedEx is not equal to FedEx Ground (just to complicate things) you might want to check with your local Post Office.

well, i'm not sure yet, but i might not be waiting 'til march.  i'm now in the "you have been queued" category, and am no longer in ZIP+4 limbo.  longer version here:

or maybe i am waiting 'til march.  in any case, i'll believe it when i can scritch it behind its cute little ears.  :-)

Subject: Update On Your XO Laptop

Dear WhatsHisName,

Thank you for contacting Donor Services.  Your new shipping address information has been recorded.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in receiving your XO laptop.  Give One Get One was such a phenomenal success that we over-taxed our order processing and payment systems.  Demand exceeded supply.

Additional XO laptops are being built now and will be delivered in 45 to 60 days. Your laptop is in the queue for delivery at that time.  If you wish to reconsider your contribution in the face of this delay, we will issue a refund to you.  We have set up a dedicated phone line for these requests.  The number is 1-800-883-8102.

In the meanwhile, please know that laptops are in the process of going to Mongolia, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Rwanda and Haiti as part of the "give one" side of the equation.  Fortunately, OLPC's mission of getting laptops to the children in these countries has not been delayed.  In Mongolia , the children are already enjoying themselves and learning new things with their XO laptops.

Please see: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Ulaanbaatar

Eliminating poverty through learning is gaining wider acceptance thanks to support like yours.

Sincerely,

Yo Nicky,

Thought you must be sick or something. It's been a long time since I've heard from you.  Actually, I don't think you've ever written to me before.

About your note, which address change are you referring to?  Is it from when I called on Dec.31st? Or is it from when I responded to the OLPC email on Jan.19th? Or do you mean when I called last Thursday, Jan.31st? I'm confused.

It's great to hear the kids are getting their XOs, but having ordered mine on Day One, I was expecting to Get One sooner than 4 months after I ordered it.  Even getting a book from Amazon.com with free shipping is faster than that.

Would it speed things up if I took a one with a Mongolian keyboard?  I've got a Sharpie to change the keys with.  Come on Nicky, help me out here.

Hey, I heard you've been hanging out with the Ence twins.  You know, IncompetEnce and his brother NegligEnce.  Hey bro, those are some bad dudes to hang out with.  People are going to start talking about it.  I mean you need to put some distance between you and them and you need to do it fast!

Anyway, it was great to hear from you.  Hope the next one turns out better than this one did.
