Did anyone try out Quake 1 on a XO in software mode?

somebody had to ask for this...

And it's a good question.

I haven't. But I remember running Quake1 on a Pentium-90 with, I think, 16 MB RAM. So I don't see a problem per se. This was of course in 320x200 Mode. So I think you would have to have an additional layer, that upscales a lo-res rendering to the hi-res display. But I think libggi has something like this. And the XO should definitely have enough resources to handle this.

But I would like to hear about a successful test, too.

Thought I might pass this on..

prboom -geom 1200x900

will run doom fullscreen on the XO

..little choppy but pressing the - (minus) key once or twice makes it a lil better...  + (plus) key makes it bigger again.

Sdlquake runs quite happily on the XO.

I've run it with - ./sdlquake -winsize 800 600 -fullscreen

That's about as big as the resolution gets without the gameplay being too juddery.

Does anybodfy know of any other command line switches, is there any kind of pixel doubling I could enable?
